Looking for a new burger source in downtown Walnut Creek? It’s here.

Burger Loft, which specializes in gourmet hamburgers made with organic beef from Niman Ranch, has opened in the North Main Street spot formerly housing Pomegranate. Much like the other downtown counter-service burger joints, including The Counter, Gott’s Roadside and The Habit, Burger Loft bills itself as a “contemporary and family-friendly” venue for not just craft burgers, but hoagie sandwiches and crisp salads.

The menu features eight signature hamburgers ($9.75-$13.50) made with grass-fed Angus beef, like the Diablo Truffle, topped with truffle oil and a grilled tomato; eight sandwiches ($10.50-$13.50) made with chicken or fish; five salads ($10-$12); six types of fries (including tater tots); eight milkshakes; and a small selection of wine, beer and appetizers.

Also look for weekend brunch, which will include dishes made with hormone-free meats and poultry, cage-free eggs and local produce, plus wine-based cocktails, fruit smoothies and fair-trade organic espresso coffee drinks.

Burger Loft is open from 11 a.m. daily at 1389 N. Main St., Walnut Creek. For more information, visit www.burgerloftwalnutcreek.com.
