Michigan’s Best fries winner offering ‘Boomer’ and ‘Millennial’ burgers - MLive.com

MIDLAND, MI — It’s Boomers versus Millennials for the best hamburger at Midland Burger Co.

The burger joint and maker of Michigan’s Best fries, unveiled three new generation-themed burgers in a Facebook post on Thursday, Jan. 8. The Boomer, the Millennial and the Company Burger for Gen Xers.

“For a few years now an epic battle has been raging between ‘Boomers’ and ‘Millennials.’ It’s time to choose sides, and put your money where your mouth is. Or at least put a burger where your mouth is," the Facebook post reads.

“For the older, perhaps wiser generation, we have the Boomer. Local shroom and onion medley, ranch green onion cheese, and that ever so divine company mayo. Nothing too crazy, but that green onion cheese is really gonna knock your argyle socks off. For the younger, ‘woke’ generation, we have the Millennial- Breaded avocado, sriracha and an organic cage free egg on a bed of greens. Full flavored and fresh just like you like it.”

Midland Burger Co. has unveiled three new burgers inspired by the Baby Boomers, Millennials and Generation X. The "Boomer" burger, shown here, features a local mushroom and onion medley, ranch green onion cheese, and company mayo.

Baby Boomers are people born in the United States following the end of World War II, more specifically between the years of 1946 and 1964, according to Merriam-Webster, and Millennials were born in the 1980s and 1990s. The Pew Research Center defines Millennials as being born between 1981 and 1996, which means the oldest Millennials turn 39 this year and the youngest turn 24. Sandwiched between the two is Generation X, which Merriam-Webster defines as the generation of people born in the 1960s and 1970s. There’s a burger for them, too.

“Hey Gen X, don’t worry we haven’t forgotten you,” the post continues. “When you’re done listening to Cheryl (sic) Crow stop in for a Company Burger. Sharp cheddar, grilled onion, house-made bacon, and Company mayo. It’s sure to hit the spot and give you all the feels.”

“It’s just a fun play on the back and forth going on right now between baby boomers and millennials,” owner Jim Welch said in a message to MLive/The Saginaw News. “Reaction has been great. Customers are really having fun with it.”

Midland Burger Co. operates a food truck and has a permanent location inside the Midland Mall food court, 6800 Eastman Ave.
