‘Beer & Burger Joint’ coming to downtown Huntsville - AL.com

The redevelopment ongoing at 125 North Side Square in downtown Huntsville now has a tenant.

Jack Brown’s Beer & Burger Joint is intended not only to be a lunchtime destination adjacent to the Madison County Courthouse but will also cater to an after-hours crowd with craft beer and staying open until 2 a.m. daily, according to an announcement Tuesday from Crunkleton Commercial Real Estate.

The 1,750 square foot restaurant will open in the summer on the ground floor of the redeveloped property.

“We’re a craft beer bar that serves a great burger,” Jason Owenby, Jack Brown’s director of operations in Huntsville, said in the announcement. “Our Wagyu beef is top-of-the-line and all ingredients are made in house—it’s quality food. Think of us as a 'Cheers' type of bar where everyone will know your name and favorite draft.”

Menu highlights will include everyday burgers such as the BBQ potato chip and mac n’ cheese-topped “Greg Brady” and the elaborate “Elvis” burger slathered with peanut butter, mayo, applewood bacon, and cheddar cheese, the announcement said, as well as more mainstream selections like the “Cowboy” topped with bacon and BBQ sauce and the “Dr. Gonzo” covered with sautéed mushrooms, Guinness-fried onions, bacon, and Swiss cheese.

The Virginia-based franchise also has locations in Birmingham and Chattanooga as well as throughout the southeast.

“There are a couple of different reasons why we chose Downtown Huntsville as our next location,” Owenby said in the announcement. “We have several other sites in nearby cities that do really well and Huntsville fits right into our demographic. Plus, Huntsville is one of the best places to be for craft beer in the state.”

The restaurant also wanted to take advantage of the growth and development in downtown Huntsville.

“Jack Brown’s is a perfect spot to meet friends after work for happy hour and we found it works best for us when we are part of an established entertainment district,” Owenby said in the announcement. “We wanted to be surrounded by other places that stay open late so there are folks out and about looking for a good meal or local beer. We are also close enough to the hospital that workers can come eat with us late into the night. It’s a good fit.”
